Besides cooperating and being published in hundreds of books Matthijs has written and photographed his own books.
The Reptiles of the Guianas (Guyana, Suriname and French Guiana) is his second book and will be released in the beginning of 2024. It covers these 3 poorly known countries that are known to have the highest rainforest density in the world and have a unique reptile fauna. The book will be A4 format and consist of around 512 pages, 226 distribution maps, 25 graphics and over 850 photos.
