The Mangshan pit viper is one of the biggest pit viper species in the world. These impressive, up to 2 meters and 5 kilo, snakes were only discovered in 1989 in the high mountain forests of Mount Mangshan, China. These snakes are highly endangered and the total population is estimated to consist of less than 500 animals.
